Maria F. Chapman is a writer, strategist, and disabled entrepreneur who believes in the power of pivoting as a business model. After a sudden neuromuscular illness ended her 15-year career in education, Maria taught herself how to write for a living from her bed, literally. She went on to build Connected Ghostwriting, an agency that helps entrepreneurs turn their ideas into content that converts.
Maria is the founder of Journey 2 Success. Our nonprofit equips disabled individuals, especially those displaced mid-career, with the tools to build businesses that support both income and health. Through mentorship, training, and the J2S Academy, she helps them build ventures that are sustainable, flexible, and designed for real life.
Maria’s journey with words began early, writing at a desk built by her father. She pursued her career in elementary education, focusing on literacy and instructional coaching. Following diagnoses of MG and CIDP, she reassessed her priorities and transitioned to a writing career. This shift allowed her to focus on her health and family in Rockfall, Connecticut. She is also passionate about disability advocacy, driven by her own experiences.
The nonprofit supports disabled entrepreneurs who are starting or scaling ventures that honor their health and life circumstances. Maria speaks on thought leadership, content strategy, and disability advocacy. Her goal is to inspire people to create livelihoods that reflect their true values.
